Langley Hospice Programs
Bereavement
Bereavement is grief associated with death. Grieving the death of a friend, acquaintance, relative or partner is never simple. The fact that our culture allows little time for the process of grief further complicates matters.
The Langley Hospice Bereavement Support Program offers:
- One-on-one bereavement support for adults, teens and children
- Loss support programs for adults, teens and children
- School education program for grief and loss
For information on dates and times for the loss support groups, please contact Langley Hospice at (604) 530-1115.
Hospice Palliative Care
Hospice palliative care is for anyone facing life-limiting illness. Our programs provide emotional and practical support for individuals and their loved ones. It can be provided in any setting; at home, in hospitals, nursing homes or in special hospice facilities. Most of all, hospice palliative care is about living fully to the end of life with dignity and comfort.
Hospice coordinators and trained volunteers:
- Work closely with the hospice palliative care team to provide emotional and practical support to clients and their relatives in hospitals and at home
- Provides families and primary caregivers with brief respite or pause, usually two to four hours, from their caregiving responsibilities.
- Provides a caring presence during the night for imminently dying people (vigil) in hospitals, extended care units, and the hospice residence.
