Langley Hospice Society
Mission Statement
Langley Hospice Society, a community-based, non-profit organization, provides compassionate
support to help people live with dignity and hope while coping with grief and the end of life.
Philosophy of Palliative Care
When medical intervention will no longer prolong or extend the client's life, palliative care is offered. It is the active compassionate care of those with end-of-life issues within the supportive structure of the palliative care team and the family. It could take place in the home, or in a home-like environment. The client and family play a major role in setting the goals for care.
Palliative care is multi-disciplinary in its approach. The palliative care team encompasses the client, the family, and the community and its resources in scope. It can include pastoral care, social workers, nurses, physicians, hospice workers, pharmacists, therapists and volunteers.
