Langley Hospice Society Assistant Manager

Langley Hospice is seeking a dynamic, versatile person for the position of Assistant Manager.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating donated items
  • Pricing and merchandising
  • Responsible for daily cash receipts and banking duties
  • Must have proven ability to build and sustain sales results and manage controllable expenses
  • Must have strong coaching, leadership, supervisory and customer service skills
  • Ability to promote team building by creating a positive and rewarding work atmosphere
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • Experience in a retail setting preferred
  • Knowledge of thrift store operations helpful
  • High level of diplomacy and discretion as well as the ability to interact effectively with staff, volunteers, donors and the public
  • An interest in the field of hospice palliative care
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some weekends and evenings
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle

Bereavement Support Coordinator

Mission:
Langley Hospice Society, a community based, non-profit organization, provides compassionate support to help people live with dignity and hope while coping with grief and the end of life.

Function:
To provide bereavement and palliative counselling and support services to individuals, families and groups. To facilitate hospice training, education workshops and various presentations for volunteers and community organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive referrals from hospice residence, hospital, community organizations and the general public
  • Perform clinical assessments and develop therapeutic plan and treatment goals
  • Facilitate support groups adults
  • Provide educational presentations to community organizations to increase awareness of Langley Hospice, hospice palliative care, life-span development and the grieving process
  • Work closely the Client/Palliative Coordinator to provide basic and advanced training for client volunteers.
  • Liaison with insurance and workplaces at client's request and submit clinical reports as required
  • Participate in ongoing program development
  • Participate in Langley Hospice community events
  • Maintain accurate database records on clients
  • Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Masters level education in Counselling Psychology or Social Work and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional education/training and experience in hospice palliative care and/or grief counselling
  • Additional education/training in critical incident stress debriefing and trauma counselling
  • Current registration with an applicable health profession preferably with the BC Registered Clinical Counsellors Association
  • Must maintain a valid BC Driver's License and have access to a vehicle
  • Completion of a recent criminal record check
